Since you brought it up and we worked there — and this Friday, as the last one of the month, could very well see the last edition of the Rocky Mountain News — I figured I’d say my piece about it and the business here.
The demise of daily print journalism was set in motion years ago. I’m more inclined to look upon this as the death of a loved one after a long goodbye. I feel keenly the distress of the News’ editorial staff; I’m out of work, and few have harsher words for ownership and executives when their lack of vision, their quarter-to-quarter myopia or their fear cost working people their jobs. Over the News’ decline you’ve seen all three in play.
